- கி.ஜனார்த்தனன் பிரபந்தத் தேன்துளிகள்.. பாண்டிய பட்டர் அருளிச் செய்தவை மின்னார் தடமதிள் சூழ் வில்லிபுத்தூர் என்றொருகால் * சொன்னார் கழற் கமலம் சூடினோம் * – முன்னாள் கிழியறுத்தான் என்றுரைத்தோம் * கீழ்மையினிற் சேரும் வழியறுத்தோம் நெஞ்சமே! வந்து 'மதிலாலே சூழப்பட்ட ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்தூர் என்று ஒரு முறை ( என்றொருகால்)  சொன்னவருடைய கழற் கமலம் சூடினோம்-  திருவடித்தாமரைகளை சிரமேற்கொண்டோம்.  ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்தூர் என்பது மிகவும் அருமையான ஓர் ஊர்,  பாபத்தைப் போக்க வல்ல சப்தங்களின் சரமாக அமைந்த பெயராம் புனிதமிகு ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்தூர் என்ற பெயர்.  அந்தப் பெயரின் ஒலி நம் உள்ளங்களை சுத்தப்படுத்தும் என ஆழமாக நம்புவோம். பாண்டிய நாட்டில் புத்தூர் என்னும் ஊரை அடுத்த காட்டில் வாழ்ந்த வேடர் குலத் தலைவனுக்கும் அவனது மனைவி மல்லிக்கும் வில்லி, கண்டன் எனும் இரண்டு புதல்வர்கள் இருந்ததாகக் கூறப்படுகிறது.  தன் தம்பியைக் காப்பாற்றிய திருமாலுக்கு வில்லி கோயில் அமைத்ததாகக் கூறப்படுகிறது. பெரியாழ்வாரின் தாய்தந்தையர்கள் - முகுந்தபட்டர், பதுமவல்லி  நம் தாயானவள் ஸ்ரீ ஆண்டாள் அவதரித்தை பூமி எனக் ...

- கி.ஜனார்த்தனன் Nammalwar is considered to be the leader of the Sri Vaishnava clan. You need not be born into a specific caste, race or gender to become a Sri Vaishnava, or an auspicious devotee of Perumal. Genuine interest (and the regulations you agree to abide by to, due to that interest) is the only qualification. Born in Southern Tamil Nadu thousands of years back, Nammalwar is also known as Parangusa, or Satakopa. It is definitely a matter of pride to me that my own ancestors are Pandyas, and the land of origin of Nammalwar and Sri Andal are within Pandya Nadu.  For Nammalwar, he is said not to have cried at all as a baby. Said to be a Shudra, he was left near a tamarind tree, an inauspicious tree, where he went in and set in meditation for 16 years before awaking to speak with his disciple, the aged Brahmin Madurakavi Alwar, for the first time.
